SOUTH BEND - Loretta M. Pajakowski, 88, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in Memorial Hospital. Loretta was born on December 4, 1926, in Hammond, Indiana, to Erskine and Agatha (Johnston) Shaw, and had lived in South Bend since 1953. On April 11, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, she married Ernest S. Pajakowski, who preceded her in death on June 15, 2006. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Philip, James and David Shaw. Loretta is survived by her two sons, Stephen Ernest (Mary) Pajakowski of South Bend, Indiana, and Philip Eugene (Susanne) Pajakowski of Manchester, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Adam Leo (Megan) Pajakowski of Cleveland, Ohio, Stephanie Jude (Dan) Mullany of Indianapolis, Indiana, Thaddeus "Ted" Jude Pajakowski of South Bend, Indiana, and Sophia Rossbach Pajakow-ski of Manchester, New Hampshire; one great-grandson, Carter Paja-kowski of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Henrietta Pajakowski; many nieces and nephews; and her special niece, companion and friend, Sylvia Krol. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2015, in Holy Cross Church. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 12 noon until 6 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Loretta was a 1944 graduate of the former Gary Emerson High School. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish. Loretta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's school and athletic activities.
