MISHAWAKA - Florence A. Bortone, 81, of Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, formerly of West Fifth Street, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday in the nursing home. Mrs. Bortone retired in 1969 from Uniroyal Plastics Co. after 34 years of service. She was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Mishawaka. On Dec. 4, 1931, in Goshen, as Florence A. Sutter, she married Joseph Bortone. He survives with a daughter, Charlene VanOverberghe of South Bend; two sons, Richard and Joseph Jr., both of South Bend; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of Rosary Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church.Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
