SOUTH BEND - Victor A. Niemier, 84, passed away at 1:10 am on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross Nursing Home. Victor was born on October 25, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Roman and Cecilia (Michalski) Niemier. On August 18, 1951, he married Geraldine R. Malicki, who preceded her in death on December 11, 2009. He is survived by his two sisters, Alice (Mike) Jerzak of Lansing, MI, and Emily Cichowicz of South Bend; and a brother, Leonard (Clara) Niemier of South Bend; and by many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Victor worked in maintenance for the South Bend Authority until retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church, and honorably served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2011, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
