Feb. 28, 1921 - March 5, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Martin J. Buczkowski, Jr., 92, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in Hamilton Grove Nursing Home in New Carlisle, Indiana. He was born February 28, 1921, in South Bend, to Martin & Carrie (Pinkowski) Buczkowski Sr. Martin retired from AEP, formerly I&M Power Company, after many years of service. He was a real estate agent for several years, and had worked for the former Studebaker Corporation for 22 years. On December 29, 1945, Martin married Eileen Dalka, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2005. He is survived by daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Kielton & Diane (Greg) Newman; a son, Gerald (Carol) Buczkowski, all of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren, Tracy (Gary) Libbey, Marcy (Greg) Balderas, Ryan (Krissie) Newman, Jamie (Clay) Klepper; & great-grandchildren, Margaret, Lucas, Joseph, Benjamin, Thomas, Kylie, Bodie, Brooklyn & Ashlyn. Martin was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, served in the Army from 1942-1945 during WW II, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8748. He loved to play horseshoes & golf, & enjoyed gardening. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will b e celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, in St. Matthew Cathedral Catholic Church, where visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Crowley Education Fund, St. Matthew Cathedral School, 1015 E. Dayton, South Bend, Indiana 46613.
