SOUTH BEND - Kenneth Roy Alwine, 87, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 12:06 p.m. at North Wood Village Memory Care in Mishawaka, IN. Kenneth was born to the late Guy Romanus and Goldie Matilda (Dorrier) Alwine on May 10, 1928, in South Bend. On September 2, 1950, in Plymouth, IN, he married Carrol Elizabeth (DeMien) Alwine, who preceded him in death in 2005. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Barry) Hughes of Plymouth, IN; his son, Mark (Kathy) Alwine of Mattawan, MI; four grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Stout, Trenton (Morgan) Stout, Jennifer (Joseph) Woodhams, and Jeffrey Alwine; four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Paxtyn, Brock and Calvin; his sisters, Martha Moore of Mishawaka and Esther Shapland of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sisters, Lillian McIntyre and Thelma Manuel; his brothers, James, Richard and Carl Alwine; and three infant siblings. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 12 noon at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. Pastor Timothy Pearson will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
