[N14996] Anna Marie Heinek
June 26, 1945 - October 14, 2012
Anna Marie Heinek, 67 of Winder, GA passed away October 14, 2012 in Suwanee, GA at a family residence after a 3 year battle with cancer. Affectionately known as Sis to her family, she was born to Edmund and Ann Mnichowski on June 26, 1945 in South Bend, IN. She enjoyed a childhood on the farm with her older sister MaryAnn and younger sister Jeannette. Their hometown of Lakeville would not have been the same without Sis--she was on the high school cheerleading squad, as well as crowned Miss Lakeville in 1962 (as a Junior!). She attended Indiana University where she met Charles Donald "Don" Heinek. They were married on the most memorable sweetheart day--Valentine's Day, 1970. Thus began a new stage of Anna's life: wife- and motherhood. Alicia was their first born, a little firecracker who arrived the day before Independence Day, 1974 while the couple resided in Cincinnati, OH. 6 years later, Melissa arrived 3 days after Easter in 1980 while the family was living in Saint Louis, MO. Sis and Don moved back and forth over the years, always returning to Georgia. When Don passed in 1999, a new chapter of Anna's life began. Her children were grown, and her spouse of 29 years was gone. She needed independence, yet stability, so she found herself in Winder, surrounded by farms and fields echoing her childhood. Anyone who knew Anna in the last chapter of her life knew the secret to her life: her grandchildren. She went from 1 granddaughter born in 2004, to a total of 4 grandchildren by 2006, which then grew to 6 grandkids by 2009! To Lorelei, Chloe, and Ella, she was known as Granny or Grandma. To Donovan, Gemma, and Xavier, she was known as Grandma or Gram Cracker.Anna is survived by her 2 daughters and their spouses, Alicia and Brian Kincheloe, and Melissa and Christopher Hawthorne, her 6 grandchildren, her 2 sisters MaryAnn Dobosiewicz and Jeannette Ciesielski, and her cat Mustard. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday October 20, 2012 at 11:30am at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Duluth, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
