SOUTH BEND - Theodore S. "Ted" Zmyslo, 86, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009, at 3:30 a.m. in Hospice House. Theodore was born on May 5, 1923, in South Bend to the late Michael and Adeline (Grejczyk) Zmyslo. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Joe and Chet; and by two sisters, Maryann Young and Sister Joenelle Zmyslo. On June 3, 1944, he married Anna, she survives along with their two sons, Thomas L. (Diane) Zmyslo of South Bend and Terry S. Zmyslo of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Dennis (Christine) Zmyslo, Tammy (Shaun) Boyer, Thomas L. (Jennifer) Zmyslo Jr., Tara L. (Andrew) Zmyslo-Benedict; six great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters; and by his six sisters, Sophie Kokot, Henrietta (John) Kosinski, Bernice Wieczorek, Alice Bystry, Theresa Kalicki, all of South Bend and Wanda (Jim) Benjamin of Mishawaka. Ted worked at Studebaker for 22 years, and then worked for AM General until he retired in 1985. After his retirement he helped out part time at Beebe Cabinet Shop. He was a lifetime member of St. Stephen Catholic Church until its closing. He also was a member of St. Adalbert Harvest House. Ted and Anna recently celebrated 65 years of marriage in June. He loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his flowers and taking pride in his yard. He enjoyed Polka music and Ted always had candy in his pockets to hand out. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Dr., South Bend, IN 46628. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
