SOUTH BEND - Robert R. Molnar, 72, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014, in Hamilton Communities. Robert was born on November 25, 1941, in South Bend, to Stephen Joseph and Anna Mary (DeCook) Molnar. He had been employed with the South Bend Street Department as a foreman for fourteen years. He had also been a business owner in Hawaii. Robert had lived in Hawaii for twenty-two years. He owned a restaurant and was a Charter Boat Captain in Hawaii. On December 28, 1964, in Hawaii, he married Sandra Taylor, who preceded him in death on June 21, 2003. Robert was also preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Anna Molnar. He is survived by his son, James Molnar of South Bend, Indiana; one granddaughter, Isabelle Molnar; one sister, Michele Sopczynski of Florida; and one brother, James Molnar of South Bend, Indiana. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Hamilton Cemetery. Robert served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. He enjoyed fishing. He was a very giving person, always helping everyone. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michiana Walleye Association. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
