Employee of the South Bend Spark Arrester company for 43 years. The funeral services were held at St Stanislaus Roman Catholic church.His survivors included four sisters and two brothers, all of South Bend. His obituary says he was born in New Carlisle in the county. In the 1880 federal census of South Bend, the family is listed under the name Grawertski and consisted of parents, Vincent and Maggie, seven children, and Maggie's mother. All of the adults and the three oldest children including John, 9, are listed as having been born in Prussia, the rest of the children in Indiana, indicating that the family came to this country sometime in the early 1870s.
