John S. Przybylski
March 20, 1925 November 24, 2010
South Bend John S. Przybylski, 85, passed away at 9:29am on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in Memorial Hospital after an illness.
John was born March 20, 1925 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Antonette Przybylski. He is also preceded in death by a sister; Frances Gorka; his five brothers, Louis, Frank, Walter, Joseph and Stanley "Sheik" Przybylski; and a granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Borlik.
On August 30, 1947 John married Lucille Lisenko who passed away on December 16, 2001. He is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Thomas) Borlik of Granger; granddaughter Emily Borlik of Chicago; grandson Jeffrey Borlik of Los Angeles, CA.; three sisters, Blanch Sniadecki of South Bend, Harriet Faltynski of South Bend, and Alice (Steve) Mate of Long Beach, MS.; and a brother-in-law, Bob (Georgianne) Lisenko of South Bend.
John honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Engineering Corp. in Europe from 1943 to 1946. He worked at Studebaker for 20 years and retired from Dodge Manufacturing in 1983.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 357 and a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lakeville. John was an avid wood carver, specializing in birds and ducks. He loved to give his carved creations to family and friend on the holidays. He was meticulous in the care of his home and yard. He was also quite a storyteller reliving the war and old family stories. John was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and Notre Dame. He was always waiting for a perfect baseball season where he could watch the games from his back porch.
John was the perfect brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. We'll have a gin and tonic the next time in his memory.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, November 29, 2010 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 63568 U.S. 31 South, Lakeville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
