Louis Paksi
Dec. 12, 1931 - Dec. 8, 2014
SOUTH BEND - Louis Paksi, 82, passed away at 10:05 am Monday, December 8, 2014, in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. Louis was born on December 12, 1931, in South Bend, to Joseph and Bertha (Brahlich) Paksi. They preceded him in death along with four brothers, Steve Hornyak, Anton Hornyak, Frank Hornyak and Julius Hornyak; and five sisters, Alma Katona, Ann Hornyak, Esther Katona, Margaret Compton and Freda Laiber. Surviving are two sisters, Julie Paksi-Zapalski of Vandalia, MI, and Frances Hojnacki of South Bend; and a brother, John Paksi of South Bend; and many nephews and nieces. Louis was a very active and fun-loving child. He was a great swimmer (the best in the family) and really enjoyed going on fishing trips with his brothers, but all his fun stopped when he started losing his eyesight when he was in his twenties. Within the following 20 years, he was totally blind. After this, he spent all his time taking care of his home and gardening. He was loved and cared for by his family who will miss him very much. In accordance with Lou's wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. To leave an online condolence visit our website www.zahoran.com, or our Facebook page, Zahoran Funeral Home.
