SOUTH BEND - Agnes A. Barilich, 88, passed away at 8:05 pm Sunday, May 11, 2014, in her residence. Agnes was born on January 17, 1926, in South Bend, to Anton and Julia (Jordanich) Sostaritz. She retired from Carlyle Nursing Home, was a member of Holy Family Church and its Altar & Rosary Society. Agnes was also a member of the former St. Anthony Society Ladies Auxiliary and Forever Learning. On January 17, 1948, she married John J. Barilich, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John E. Barilich of South Bend and Thomas A. Barilich of Elgin, IL; and a grandson, J.T. Barilich. Agnes was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Horvath and Mary Horvath; and two brothers, Joe Horvath and John Horvath. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3-7 Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Church. Barilich 60th

SOUTH BEND -- Agnes and John Barilich of 58060 Crumstown Highway celebrated their 60th anniversary with a blessing Sunday at Holy Family Catholic Church. John Barilich and Agnes Sostaritz married Jan. 17, 1948, at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. They have two children, John E. of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Thomas A. of Gilberts, Ill. They also have one grandson. Mr. Barilich retired in 1989 as owner and president after 22 years with the former Refractory Specialists. Mrs. Barilich retired from accounting after 14 years with the former Carlyle Nursing Home. They have lived in South Bend all of their lives.
