SOUTH BEND - Lucille M. Pauwels, 90, of Bell Trace Retirement Center in Bloomington, IN, formerly of South Bend, passed away, Thursday, November 27, 2008, in the nursing home. Lucille was born on August 5, 1918, in South Bend, Indiana to Peter and Bertha (Nowacki) Jaworski. On June 10, 1939, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lucille married Edward M. Pauwels who preceded her in death on December 25, 2004. Surviving are her children, Mary Jo (James) Koran of Naples, Maine, James (Anita) Pauwels of Willow Park, Texas, Gerard (Colleen) Pauwels of Bloomington, Indiana, John (Sarah) Pauwels of Elkhart, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Andrea) Koran, Michael Koran, Kevin Koran, Erin Pauwels, Matthew Pauwels Amanda Pauwels, Laura Pauwels; four great grandchildren, Victor, Frank, James & Felyshe Koran; brothers, Chester (Clara) Jaworski of South Bend, Indiana, Bernard (Virginia) Jaworski of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law, Joan Jaworski of South Bend, Indiana; and a brother-in-law, Andrew Pauwels of Bloomington, Indiana. Brothers, Albert, Adam and Leonard Jaworski all preceded her in death. Lucille was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Quilting Group. She was a past P.T.A. Room Mother and Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved to read and always enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards, fishing, crocheting and crafts. She was a 1936 graduate of South Bend Central High School. Lucille remained devoted to her husband, Edward for over 65 years. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday, December 1, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Highland Cemetery.
