Raymond F. Paczesny

Raymond F. Paczesny, 86, was born on Nov. 20, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Frank and Magdalene (Niezgodski) Paczesny. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie Bats-leer, who died in November 1988; his brother, Al Page; and by his two sisters, Ruth Michelson and Delphene Colwell. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Paczesny Delahanty and Edward L. Delahanty of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Diane Paczesny Holman of Cathedral City, Calif.; six grandchildren, David Delahanty of Edina, Minn., Debra Delahanty of Orlando, Fla., Paul Holman III, John Holman, Felicity Holman of California, and Joe Holman of Japan; and eight great-grandchildren, including Avery and Finnigan Delahanty of Minnesota. Mr. Paczesny graduated from Central High School and attended classes on the South Bend campus of Indiana University as well as Forever Learning and Battel. He worked for 42 years at Bendix, from 1938-1980. Mr. Paczesny was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the 88th Infantry Division, serving from July 16, 1945, to June 6, 1946. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, South Bend, a member of the Indiana Alumni Association, the Moose Lodge #58, Hoosiers Legionnaire, the American Legion Pulaski Post #357, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Bendix Senior Management Club. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 16, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish vigil service will take place at 4 p.m. A M ass of Christian B urial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec.17, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. John's Way, South Bend, with entombment to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the chathe Catholic Charities, 425 N. Michigan St., South Bend, Ind., 46601.
