SOUTH BEND - Irene L. Niedbala, 95, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2014 at Healthwin Specialized Care, South Bend, IN. She was born on June 5, 1919 to the late Frank Sieradzki and Frances (Wieczorek) in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by three sisters; and two brothers. Irene retired in 1975 from Enro Shirt Factory, where she worked as a seamstress for 20 years. On September 4, 1939, as Irene L. Sieradzki, she married Frank J. Niedbala in South Bend, IN. He died on September 18, 1995. Irene is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. (Danny) Meller of South Bend, IN; her son, Raymond F. (Kay) Niedbala of Granger, IN; six grandchildren, Raymond, Randy, Cindy, Wendy, Michael, and Kevin; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Theresa (Rocco) Nate of South Bend, IN. Irene was a member of St. Casimir Parish; where she belonged to the Senior Citizens Club, Altar & Rosary Society, St. Anne Society and Sacred Heart Society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning food, cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene's family would like to extend a special thanks to the Healthwin Team, especially 2E for the kindness shown to our Mother and her family, we are forever grateful. Visitation will be from 9 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 W. Dunham Street, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Christopher J. Derda officiating.
