Maria Dudka, 86, passed away peacefully at 9:45pm on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in her home after a long illness. Maria was born on August 9, 1923 in Wisniowa, Poland to the late Franciszka and Marii (Szczykutowicz) Pioro. She was preceded in death by her infant son, John. She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Walter Dudka; their children, Helen (Joseph) Brosilo of Chicago, IL, Janice (Lawrence) Lijewski of Shalimar, FL, Edward (Julie) Dudka of Niles, Thaddeus (Karen) Dudka of South Bend and Stanley (Nancy) Dudka of South Bend; ten grandchildren, Michael Brosilo of Chicago, IL, Christopher (Jessica) Brosilo of Chandler, AZ, Paul Lijewski of Shalimar, FL, Marianne Lijewski of Shalimar, Fl, Heather (Paul) Lindgren of Niles, Shawn Dudka of Niles, Jennifer Dudka of South Bend, Zachary Dudka of South Bend, Nicole Dudka of Chicago, IL, and Bryce Dudka of Chicago, IL; and by her two great-grandchildren, Eden and Asher Brosilo of Chandler, AZ. Maria worked for SOBOL Plastics for 23 years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She was an avid sports fan of Notre Dame Football and a longtime Chicago Bears fan. Maria supported all her children in their sports activities, and she enjoyed sewing for her family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, IN 46619. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, June 21, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
