SOUTH BEND, IN - Robert M. Savko, 78, of South Bend, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his residence in South Bend. He was born August 21, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana to Melvin & Virginia (Keylock) Savko. Surviving are five children, Janet (Dan) Bernetzke of WI, Bobette Shuamber of Mishawaka, Frank Savko of FL, Michelle (Brent) Wilhelm of OH, and Kyle (Robin) Savko of South Bend; 12 grandchildren, Nikki, Jakota, Rhandi, Chad, Stevie, Sam, Dawson, Annelise, Kristi, Lauren, Nathan, and Jaxton; 14 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Natalie, Shelby, Jensen, Aubree, Kayleah, Kyleah, Jakota Jr., Landon, Kamrynn, Kamiyah, Kylah, Kinsley, and Benson. six nephews and nieces, Curtis, Melvin, Michael, Kimmy, Shannon, and Nicole; special friends, Larry, Monty, Peggy, Sharon; and his neighbors, Pat, Mary, Steve, and Bob. Also surviving are three siblings, Pat (Jimmy) Schei, Janet (Daryl) Reed, and Michael Savko all of Tallahassee, FL; and his furry friend, his dog Blaze. He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1960-1964. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, women, and drinking beer. Robert was a jack of all trades and was employed as a contractor in the construction industry. Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with his care. Published in South Bend Tribune on Jan. 2, 2021.
