Mary Magdelene Mosca
September 8, 1928 - June 28, 2010
Mary Mosca, age 81, of Warren, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Shelby Township. Mary, daughter of Polish immigrants, was born on September 8, 1928 in Hamtramck, MI, to the late Michael and Antonette (nee Kruk) Zarzyka. She is predeceased by her husband, John Mosca, to whom she was married more than 50 years. She is survived by her dear son, Michael (Colleen) Mosca, and her loving granddaughter and grandson, Kelsey and Anthony Mosca. Mary was predeceased by her brother, Frank (Elaine) Zarzyka, her sister, Stella (Roman) Pawlak, and her nephews, Joey Pawlak and Guilio Ricciuti. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews including Kathy (Kevin) Johnson, Rick (Sue) Ricciuti, Tony Ricciuti Jr., Marie (Dave) Kenel, Amy (Barry) Gray, Ken (Cindy) Zack, Jim (Kathy) Zarzyka, Diane (Rick) Forsythe and David (Debbie) Zarzyka. She also leaves behind many more loving relatives and a small group of very dear and devoted friends. Mary spent nearly her entire life in the Detroit area and spent many years as a homemaker but also worked intermittently in the office at Chrysler, Smoler Brothers Clothing Factory, and the AMT model factory. Volunteer work is what Mary specialized in with Orchard Lake St. Marys Moms and Dads Club, St. John Macomb Hospital volunteer staff, and the Madonna Guild for the Transfiguration Catholic Church for countless years. Mary was an avid bingo player and enjoyed numerous bus trips with her friends to various gambling destinations. She was very passionate about life, very hard working, fiercely independent and sharp as a tack right to the end. She was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her dear grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family wants to pay a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Fraser Villa Rehab Facility, the great staff at Sunrise Assisted Living of Shelby Township and for the excellent care given to Mary by Dr. Mary Kaplan and Dr. Allen Stawis for the last several years. Visitation will take place Sunday from 1:00 to 5:30 pm at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) with a scripture service at 4:00 pm. Interment will take place at the St. Joseph Polish Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana.
