SOUTH BEND - Mary Rose Kubiak, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2013 in the Holy Cross Village of Notre Dame. Mary Rose was born June 1, 1926 in South Bend to the late Frank and Lucille (Kosnowski) Kominowski. Mary Rose was also preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita Kominowski, Margaret Kominowski, Judy Kaczmierczak, and Doris Treber. On October 12, 1946 in South Bend Mary Rose married Chester Kubiak in St. Hedwig Catholic Church; he survives along with their daughters, Jeanne (Wayne) Kahlmorgan of South Bend, Karen (Douglas) Pace of South Bend, Rosanne (Richard) Kosik of Plymouth, and Kathryn (Basil) Sparlin of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Shane (Dawn) Pace of South Bend, Dawn (Nate) Pace Giszewski of South Bend, Kristin (Ryan) Kosik of Canton, MI, Justin (Jackie) Kosik of Canton, MI, Kymberly Sparlin of Honolulu, HI, & Brandon (Dori) Sparlin of Mililani, HI; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Conrad (Elaine) Kominowski of Fountain Hills, AZ & Frank (Mary) Kominowski of Martinsville, IN. Mary Rose's life was rich in faith which she held quietly and firmly. She dedicated her life to her family. She will always be remembered for all the wonderful baking she did. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her "Cookie Busia." The family would like to give a heartfelt "Thank you" to the Dujarie staff for all of their loving care and support. Per Mary Rose's wishes, a private family service will be held in Dujarie House. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family.
