SOUTH BEND - Dominic Macri, 81, passed away at 7:35 pm Sunday, January 31, 2016, in his residence after a short battle with cancer. Dominic was born on October 25, 1934, in Siderno Marina, Italy, to Francesco and Maria (Nicolletti) Macri. He retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where he was employed for 29 years. Dominic had also been employed in the family restaurant. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, cooking, gardening, wine and sausage making. He loved his family, children and grandchildren very much. On April 29, 1955, in Siderno Marina, Italy, he married the former Francesca Lizzi, who survives along with a daughter, Maria (Todd Loughman) Lisenko of Granger; two sons, Frank Macri of South Bend and Mike (Kirsten Brown-Hoskins) Macri of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Domenico, Gabriella, Madison, and Michael; two sisters, Maria (Frank) Lizzi and Rosa Macri, both of South Bend; three brothers, Edward (Catherine) Macri of Australia, Nick (Margaret) Macri and Salvatore (Tammy) Macri, both of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Sheila Macri of Mishawaka, and a brother-in-law, Carmelo Maugeri of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; a Godson; and his beloved dog Spaletta. Dominic was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Concetta Maugeri, and two brothers, Cosimo Macri and Tony Macri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-8 Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm.
