SOUTH BEND, IN - Ethel C. Kiemnec, originally of South Bend, Indiana passed away December 28, 2018 at the age of 93 in Waterville, Ohio. She was always taking care of others. She did volunteer work and each year at Christmas, she made dozens of Hungarian kiflis for family members, nieces, and nephews.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1925 in South Bend, IN to Joseph and Theresa (Komuvas) Szabo. Both preceded her in death. Siblings Mary Lipscomb, Theresa Toth, Ida Dimiff, Elizabeth Malagrida, Margaret Buza, Joseph Szabo Jr., Julius Szabo, and John Szabo also preceded her in death. On Sept. 14, 1946 she married Casimer Kiemnec. He passed away in 2003. Ethel retired from School City of South Bend where she was employed for 17 years. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jerry Levin) Kiemnec of Sylvania, Ohio; son, Randal (Mary Irvine-Kiemnec) Kiemnec of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Lee) Wroblewski and Natasha Kiemnec; a special niece, Barbara Belardinella, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Center for Conscious Living, 7410 Noward Rd., Waterville, Ohio at 12:30, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association. Published in South Bend Tribune on Jan. 4, 2019
