Esther V Spychalski, 96, of Notre Dame, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Holy Cross Village. She was born on September 25, 1921, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Louis and Frances (Wasielewski) Spychalski. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Casimer Spychalski. Esther is survived by one sister, Louise Hornung of Ludington, Michigan; one brother, Edward (Betty) Spychalski of South Bend, Indiana; and her sister-in-law, Loretta Spychalski of South Bend, Indiana. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Esther received her Nursing Certification at the age of 21, and worked at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was an active member of Hospice of St. Joseph County, the Forever Learning Institute, St. Joseph Hospital Nurse’s Alumni Association and St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until Noon on Monday, December, 4, 2017, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon in the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s honor to Hospice of St. Joseph County or St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
