SOUTH BEND - Stella C. Flowers passed away on Sunday May 29, 2016 at 5:45 A.M at the Morning Side Nursing Home. She was born on May 11, 1920, to the late Joseph and Maryanna Bentkowski in South Bend. On September 7, 1940 she married Casimer W. Flowers in St. Casimer Catholic Church. Casimer preceded her in death on January 2, 1988. Stella is survived by one son Jim M. (Georgette) Flowers of South Bend. She is also survived by three grandchildren Michelle (James) Szczechowski, Jenifer (James) Lippert, and James J. Flowers all of South Bend. Other survivors include four great- grandchildren Danielle (Danny) Sosa, Andrew (Rachel) Szczechowski, Christian Atkins, and Alicia Atkins. Stella also has three great great-grandchildren who survive. She was preceded in death by five sisters Rose Goddard, Hattie Kaniewcki, Mary Shaneyfelt, Clara Lauer, and Frances Sobierlski: and three brothers Edward, Walter, and John Bentkowski. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M in the Kaniewski Funeral Home 3545 N. Bendix Dr. on Wednesday June 1, 2016. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Highland cemetery following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana.
