SOUTH BEND - Francesco “Frank” Lizzi, 70, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 in his residence surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Frank was born on August 1, 1945 in Siderno Marina, Italy. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation after over 30 years of service and also owned and operated Frank's Lawn Service for over 30 years. On September 27, 1969 in Torino, Italy he married the former Maria Macri who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rosemary Lyle and Marianne Tucker both of South Bend; two sons, Joseph (Lisa) Galea and Michael (Tina) Lizzi both of South Bend; 6 grandchildren, Juliana Lizzi, Jacob Lyle, Lizzie Lyle, Frankie Lizzi, Nico Galea, and Sophia Lizzi; four Godchildren; eight sisters, Francesca Macri, Giovanna (Rocco) Franco, Girolama (Antonio) Dellilas, Esterina Scibona, Concetta Scibona, Angelina (Cosimo) Cusarini, Julia (Domenico) Caricari and Santa (Domenico) Cusarini; two brothers, Nicola (Virginia) Lizzi and Vincenzo (Rita) Lizzi; sisters-in-law, Lina Lizzi, Rosa Macri and Sheila Macri; and brothers-in-law, Salvatore (Tammy) Macri, Eduardo (Caterina) Macri, Nicola (Margaret) Macri and Carmelo Maugeri as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews. Francesco was preceded in death by his brother, Guiseppe Lizzi, brothers-in-law, Domenico Macri, Rosario Scibona and Tony Macri and a sister-in-law, Concetta Maugeri. Frank's hobbies included playing cards, hunting, making wine, going to and watching Notre Dame football games, going to the casino, family gatherings, the game show network, traveling, gardening, working outside and spending time with his dog, Chapo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-8 Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm. Parking is available in the lot across the street.
