SOUTH BEND - Helen P., Van Autreve, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at home. Helen was born on January 24, 1920 in South Bend to Joseph and Valentina (Karpinski) Lykowski. On June 21, 1941 in St. Casimir Church in South Bend, she married August Van Autreve; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jean Dregits, Irene Laisnez, Henrietta Lykowski, Wanda Orlowski, Alice Smith and Henry Lykowski. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Patricia Van Autreve and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen worked for Studebakers, Ball Band and then E. H. Tepe's for 10 1/2 years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Anthony's, St. Ann's Society and was a volunteer at the South Bend Library. As per Helen's wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation will take place in accordance to her wishes. A Mass in her remembrance will be set at a later date.
