Obituary from p. 19 of the 28 FEB 1986 edition of the “South Bend Tribune”:

Marie Janik, 77, of 2426 W. Fredrickson St., died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday in Meridian Health Care Cardinal. Mrs. Janik was born Sept. 28, 1908, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. As Mary Jurek she married Marion Molenda. He died Sept. 17, 1933 [sic. should be Mar. 30, 1935]. On June 30, 1935, she married Joseph Janik. He died Oct. 31, 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Chase of South Bend; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Zelinski of South Bend and Marge Scora [sic. Skora] of Chicago. A daughter, Loretta M. Kruszewski, died Sept. 19, 1972. . Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Janik was a member of Apostleship of Prayer and an honorary member of Harvest House of St. Stanislaus.
