[N17987] Elizabeth (Szarka) Kovacs
July 18, 1923 ~ October 29, 2017 (age 94
Elizabeth Kovacs (née Szarka) gave her soul up to the Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
Born July 18, 1923 in Hungary. She lived through the worldwide Great Depression, WWII and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, at which time Elizabeth and her husband Steve along with their five children escaped from Hungary to come the United States. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Parish for decades. She is pre-deceased by her first-born daughter, Elizabeth, who died in Hungary at the age of 3, her youngest daughter Anna, her youngest son Louie, her oldest son, Steve Jr. and her husband Steve Sr., who all passed in the past 11 years. She is survived by her son, Zoltan (Zolie), and her daughter, Liz, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Zahoran Funeral Home is taking care of cremation and a private graveside burial service will be scheduled at a later date. She was a strong-willed woman, a kind and caring friend, a loving, selfless mother and grandmother, whose greatest joy was cooking and baking wonderful meals for her family. She loved to dance and had a wonderful singing voice. She would often play Hungarian tapes or CDs and sing along while cooking, baking or dusting around the house, well into her 90s.
