Larraine Cress

BRIGHTON, MI - Larraine F. Cress, 85, of Brighton, Michigan, passed away May 11, 2014. She was born December 14, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana, to Louis M. Kiska and Dorothy Kaminski. On September 9, 1950, in Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, Larraine married Ronald C. Cress, who survives. Surviving with her husband of 63 years are daughters, Karen (David) Trzcinski of Howell, Michigan, Carla (Bruce) Panuska of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a son, William (Laura) Cress of Newport News, Virginia; grandsons, Edward & Philip Siefker, Joseph & Matthew Trzcinski; and a brother, Gregory (Deborah) Kiska of South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy (Al) DeRuyck and Mary Ann Kiska; and by her brother, James (Linda) Kiska. Larraine taught special education in the Lincoln Park Public Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She graduated from South Bend Central Catholic High School in 1947; received an Associates Degree from School Craft College; then a Bachelor of Science Degree & Master's Degree from Wayne State University. Larraine was a talented artist, drawing in pen, ink, & water color. She had exhibited works in a number of juried shows in Michigan. She was a loving wife & mother who was very proud of her family. Visitation, 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
