Year of birth is approximate, based on age stated on her death certificate and in her obituary.

In 1889, in Poland, Michael Kranc, 27, son of John & Marianna (Gorecka) Kranc, married Francisca Nowak, widow, née Lewinski, 37.

According to the 1900 census of South Bend, Indiana, Michael Kranc, a shoemaker, and his wife Francis, were both born in Poland, had been married 10 years, had immigrated in 1892, and she had had six children, two were living with them: Czeslaw and Ludwicka both born in Poland. The 1910 census indicates that Czeslaw's last name was Nowak and was Michael's step-son.

South Bend Weekly Times, Fri., Oct. 2, 1908, p. 5:
"Francis Kranc, of 1201 West Thomas street, died Sunday after a short illness with liver complaint. Deceased was born in German Poland, 57 years ago, and besides [her husband] leaves several children to mourn her death. The funeral was held Wednesday and interment was at Cedar Grove cemetery."
