SOUTH BEND - Rita Hojara, age 81, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Hospice House, South Bend. Rita was born on October 17, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late John S. and Pearl (Szarwark) Kulwicki. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hojara; and three children, Jean Ann Hiatt, Susan Levers and Robert “Bobby” Hojara; along with her parents, John and Pearl Kulwicki; and her sister, Elizabeth Molenda. Rita graduated from New Carlisle High School and attended Indiana University. She worked for over 40 years in underwriting with various banks. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, South Bend. Rita was a member of the Rosary Society and the Seniors at St. Casimir. Rita is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Joan Kulwicki of South Bend; her sister-in-law, Fides Saltzgaber; son-in-law Richard Hiatt; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with family on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, with a memorial service at 1:00 pm.
