John served in the Prussian Army and came to the USA in 1871following the Franco Prussian War. He settled in Utica NY and worked as a tailor for $0.25 / week. He saved his money and came to South Bend to work at the Oliver Plow works. He also had a small farm on Sage road were he passed .... He undoubtly knew my great GF Andrew and Grand Uncle Joseph as they all came from the area around Labiszyn in Poland and had farms in Terra Coupee.
