Hildegarde M. Ivins, 87, of Paris, Kentucky, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, in the Darby Square Nursing Home, Lexington, Kentucky. Hildegarde was born on August 19, 1917, in South Bend, to the late Lodge and Sadie (Sosinski) Oleniczak. On November 21, 1940, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, she married Leon Palicki, who preceded her in death in 1970. On December 1, 1972, she married Harry Ivins, who preceded her in death in January 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Gregg and Lorraine Wielgos and by a brother, Casimir Oleniczak. Mrs. Ivins is survived by her three children, sons, Leonard (Rosemary) Palicki of Niles, Illinios and Robert (Linda) Palicki of Paris, Kentucky; daughter, Christine (Michael) Kush of Midlothian, Virginia; two stepsons, Mark Ivins of Titusville, Florida and Greg Ivins of Ocala, Florida; four grandchildren, Phillip Palicki, Martin Palicki, Lauren (Anson) Stamper and Andrea Palicki; a step grandson, Sean Ivins and by a sister, Rita Nies. Hildegarde worked in housekeeping for the University of Notre Dame for 20 years. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend and a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus B. M. and St. Hedwig Church, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, August 6, 2005, in St. Stanislaus B. M. Church, 415 N. Brookfield St., South Bend, where friends may call one hour prior to the mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, SR 2, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
