GENEVA, IL - Gertrude Marie McKiel, age 92, of Geneva, Illinois, formerly of Montgomery, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Arden Courts of Geneva. She was born September 18, 1921, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late Leo J. and Theresa D. (ne Urbanski) Chelminiak. She was employed in various capacities, latterly as a receptionist by Lyon Metal Products in Montgomery between 1978 and 2001, the year she retired. Gertrude was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, Illinois, for many years. She was also a long-standing member and past president of the Entre Nous Bridge Club of Aurora, Illinois. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Alex) Hunt of Radlett, Hertfordshire, England; sister, Antoinette Claxton of Niles, Michigan; and brother, Clement J. Chelminiak of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon J. McKiel, sister, Sr. Helen Marie, C.R., and brothers, John H. and Ted S. Chelminiak. There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, Illinois. Interment will take place at St Joseph Memorial Park in Granger, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois, 8430 West Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
