SOUTH BEND - Josephine T. Jez, 94, passed away at 10:50 am on Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. Josephine was born on June 12, 1917, in East Chicago, IN, to the late Albert and Caroline (Szczepan) Gorecki. On May 3, 1941, she married Albin Joseph Jez, who preceded her in death on October 18, 1995. She was also preceded in death by four of her children, Mary Jez, Sister Carol Ann Jez, C.S.F.N., Raymond J. Jez and Dorothy "Dorrie" Gary; and by her three siblings, Mary Kloski, Frank Wozniak and Helen Lukaszewski. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann (Douglas) Ore of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Lee Anthony Cleghorn of Denver, CO, Danette (Jay) Ritz of Denver, CO, Rick (Michele) Fodrocy of South Bend and Lindsay Jones of Denver, CO; her four great-grandchildren; and by her son-in-law, Robert Gray of South Bend. Josephine worked at Wilson Brothers and Avionics, and Moreau Seminary at Notre Dame as a secretary. She was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a long-standing member and a Chairman of The Daughters of Isabella, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for American Legion 357, and was very involved with many charity events. Josephine also enjoyed bowling, sewing, and tending to her garden. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 21, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 22, 2011, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628.
