MICHIGAN CITY, IN - Frances Jean Booth (68) passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Miss Booth was born October 14, 1948, in Michigan City, IN to Arnold and Lucille (Stupeck) Booth who preceded her in death. She is survived by her adopted family Mary Lou Parker, Michael A. Parker, Nancy “Jo” Parker (Dr. James) McCormick, and her cherished niece, Dr. Jayme McCormick (Kellen) Norris. Also surviving Fran were her special friends Kathy Smidt, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Migliorini, Mo Mroueh, and all those in her Tuesday Knitting Group, Wednesday Lunch Bunch, Saturday Game Night, and Elston Retiree Group. She had countless other close friends whom she loved dearly. Fran graduated from Isaac C. Elston High School in 1966. She received a B.A. from Purdue University (1969) and an M.A. from Indiana University (1975.) She taught English in the Michigan City Area Schools for 40 ½ years working with hundreds of young people in our community. She taught at Elston Junior High, Elston Senior High, and Michigan City High School before retiring in 2011. She is remembered fondly by her former students and greatly enjoyed keeping in touch with so many of them. Fran whole-heartedly loved her friends, her students, William Shakespeare, the book To Kill a Mocking Bird, the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” the Boilermakers, the Cavalier Drum Corp, playing “Words with Friends,” and the song “A Bushel and a Peck” from “Guys and Dolls” which she always cried through. Miss Booth will be missed by all whose lives she has touched! A Memorial Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home located at 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 South Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, IN with Father Kevin Huber officiating. An inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michigan City Scholarship Foundation in Miss Booth's name.
