SOUTH BEND - Nelly J. Hlawacz, 91, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015, peacefully in her home. Nelly was born May 20, 1924, in Warsaw, Poland, to the late Albin and Mary Kalinowski. On August 8, 1945, Nelly married her loving husband, Leon Hlawacz; he and their son, Tadeusz "Ted," preceded her in death. Survivors of Nelly include her daughter-in- law, Hilde Hlawacz; grandchildren, Sascha, Sabrina, Jennifer and Daniel Hlawacz; great-granddaughters, Tiana, Alyxandra and Lola; and a sister, Halina Kleszcz. Nelly was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and a member of the Polish American Relief "PAIRC." She loved dancing, especially with her husband, or to Polka music. Nelly also enjoyed decorating, arranging flowers and watching hummingbirds. Most of all, time with family meant the world to her. Visitation for Nelly will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, November 16, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Funeral Ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm.
