Claudette Douthitt, 68, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Claudette was born September 25, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana to Joseph and Alice Bystry. On November 22, 1969 Claudette married her loving husband Mike Douthitt; he survives along with their daughters, Kelley (Mike) Stein, and Leslie (Dan) Miller; her mother, Alice Bystry; brother, David (Fran) Bystry; sisters, Betty (Joe) Neiman, Kathy Fick; and six grandchildren.
Claudette was a graduate of Washington High School, and attended Indiana University. She retired in 2009 from Federal Mogul where she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Plant Manager. Claudette enjoyed life in every aspect and shared her love of life with her family and friends at every opportunity. She enjoyed vacationing and travel with family and friends, flowers, gardening, going to the lake, and especially her six grandchildren. She enjoyed every holiday and looked forward to decorating the house for the occasion, she loved nature and all the animals, especially her cats. Claudette’s greatest achievements were her daughters and their loving families. She said many times that God blessed her with so many things she could not count them all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday, January 30, 2017 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, Indiana 46613.
