MISHAWAKA - Lois Marie DeMaegd, 86, passed away on Monday, May 11th, in South Bend. Lois was born on August 29, 1922, in Mishawaka, to William and Hazel (Steinbaugh) Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, William Sanders. On September 20, 1941, in Mishawaka, as the former Lois Marie Sanders, she married Floris DeMaegd, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1995. Surviving are her children, Marianne DeMaegd of Mishawaka, Michael (Vicki) and James DeMaegd, both of Mishawaka, and Janet (Wayne) Toth of Lakeville, IN; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Sanders of Osceola. Lois was a charter member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, a member of the Rosary Society at the church, and was very active in her church. Lois loved to do needle point. She was a loving person and had a strong, will and her family meant everything to her. She had a zest for life and was always wanting her children close by. She was a WAC in the United States Army during World War II. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15th, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel Scheidt officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
