SOUTH BEND - Arthur "Art" S. Kaniewski, age 92, was born on July 30, 1921, in South Bend, IN, the son of Stanley and Mary Kaniewski, who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie (Jaxon) Kaniewski, and his second wife, Marcelaine (Poole) Kaniewski; sister, Eunice Emerick; and a brother, Joseph. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Michael) Niebauer of Equator; son, Steven Kaniewski of American Fork, Utah; stepdaughter, Kathy (Ken) Everett of Elkhart, IN; stepsons, Dale Granning of Enid, OK, and Tom (Connie) Granning of South Bend, IN; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He retired from the Bendix Corp. in 1982 He served his country in World War II as a marine engineer in the Merchant Marines in the Atlantic & Pacific Theaters. Arthur was a member of VFW Post #4855 and the American Legion #563. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside burial will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, MI, on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your choice of Veterans Organizations.
