Violette R. Rydzynski, 98, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, March 23, 2023. Violette was born in South Bend on October 28, 1924 to the late Matthew and Blanche Lewinski. She graduated from Central High School on February 4, 1950. That same year, she married the late Bernard J. Rydzynski also of South Bend. She was employed by Associates Financial Services Corporation for over 15 years. After retirement she served as a docent for the South Bend History Museum conducting tours of Copshaholm at the Oliver Mansion. She and Bernie enjoyed cross-country skiing, nature walks and traveling. She is survived by a son, Rick (Vicky) Rydzynski of South Bend; daughter, Ruth (Jim) Demski of Indian Creek, IL; three grandchildren: Amanda (Ken) Klukowski, Drew (Natasha) Griffis and Alex (Kylie) Griffis; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brothers, James Lewinski and Ervin Rydzynski; sister, Virginia Kenna; and sister-in-laws Dorothy Kazmierczak and Barbara Rydzynski; and brother-in-law William Kenna, all of South Bend. Her beautiful smile and strong spirit will be missed. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, located on the corner of Jefferson & Ironwood. Memorials may be made in Violette's memory to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northhampton, MA,01061-0515.
