SOUTH BEND - Carrie Wilma Porter Kurlowicz was carried home by the angels after passing away peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born on August 15, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to Clarence E. and Myrtle A. (Dunn) Porter. On June 26, 1954, in South Bend, IN, she married Ronald E. Kurlowicz, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 12, 1993. Mrs. Kurlowicz is survived by two daughters, Nancy Gilpin and Kathy (Charlie) Black, both of South Bend, IN; two sons, Edward M. Kurlowicz of South Bend, IN and Ronald E. (Patty) Kurlowicz, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, beloved grandson, Luke Kurlowicz and two brothers, William Porter and Larry Porter. Mrs. Kurlowicz lived most of her life in South Bend. She worked for many years in a department store. She loved music, poetry, birds and spending time in her back yard. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Southgate Church, 3717 S. Michigan St., South Bend. There will be no visitation. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Carrie Kurlowicz may be offered to the charity of the donor's choice .
