Mishawaka-Forrest Calvin Callander Jr., 84, passed away at home on Sunday, August 31.
Forrest was born on December 12, 1929 in South Bend as the son of Forrest and Mary (Shifkowski) Callander. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Callander; a grandson, Steve Callander Jr. and a sister, Irene McCloure. On May 31, 1952 in South Bend he married the former Lois Hoctel. Surviving are his loving wife, Lois; daughter, Heather Anderson of Mishawaka; son, Steve (Sherry) Callander of Valley Springs, CA; six grandchildren, Robert, Blake, Ariana, Jamie, April and Danny; 15 great grandchildren and sister, Gloria Balogh of Mishawaka. Forrest worked at the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame for 34 years before he retired. He loved Notre Dame Football, loved riding his tractor and traveling, but most of all he loved his family above and beyond everything. Forrest was a member of De Amici’s in Mishawaka. Visitation will be on Friday, September 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with Rev. Tony Kite officiating.
