SOUTH BEND - Helen T. Sobczyk, 86, passed away at 1:00 am on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in Morning Side Nursing & Memory Care Center. Helen was born on May 5, 1925 in LaPorte, IN to the late Paul and Victoria (Grascz) Kluczyk. On January 19, 1946 in LaPorte, Helen married Joseph S. Sobczyk and he passed away on January 12, 2006. Also preceding Helen in death was a son, James Paul Sobczyk on April 30, 1990; and a brother, Frank Kluczyk in 1988. Helen is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Harold) Imus; grandchildren, Shelley (Thomas) Templin, Brent (Kelly) Imus and Nicholas Imus; sister-in-laws, Agnes Jenczewski and Alice Prentkowski; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Eric, Quinn, Aurora, Bradley and Brennen; and special niece, Carol Wrobleski. Helen and Joseph spent 60 wonderful years together. She enjoyed cooking Polish food and, her specialty, strawberry pie, for her family. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Boo". Helen was a member of the St. Adalbert Rosary Society and Sisters Auxiliary, PNA Lodge 83 and American Legion Post 357 Auxiliary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior in the Church. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME 824 S. Mayflower Rd is assisting the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana 922 E.
