Date of death and place of birth and death is from her obituary. Her age varies in the records, placing her birth from 1842 to 1855.
The Poznan Marriage Indexing Project includes a marriage in 1875 of Michael Zwierzynski, 24, and Josepha "Pijanowski", 21.
The 1900 census record of Jozefa and Michael Zwierzynski in South Bend, Indiana, states that they were born in Poland, had been married 25 years, had immigrated in 1879-1880, and that Jozefa had had thirteen children of whom eight were living. Seven children were listed in their 1900 household, in birth order: Piotr [aka Peter], Joseph, Walerya [aka Valeria], Frank, John, Walenty [aka Valentine], and Wladyslaw [aka Walter]. The WPA, Indiana, Index to Death Records indicates that Michael died Oct. 24, 1903 in South Bend. The obituary of Josephine Zwierzynski, published Wed., Sep. 14, 1932 in the South Bend Tribune, states that her survivors included four sons, Peter, Joseph, Valentine, and Walter, in South Bend, Indiana, and two sisters, Mrs. Tychukski and Mrs. Frances Standar* both of Detroit, Michigan. Funeral services were held at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in South Bend and burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
