Stanton Clay Woods , 70, residing on S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, Ind., passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Bremen Community Hospital, Bremen, Ind. Mr. Woods retired in 1997 from Fairmont Homes, Nappanee. He was born on July 11, 1934, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Henry Clay and Eva Louise (Cummings) Woods . On Jan. 11, 1974, in South Bend, Ind., he married Shirley Kizer, who survives. Along with his loving wife, Shirley Woods of Lakeville, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Carty) Jones of Chesterfield, Va.; four sons, David Woods of Argos, Gary (Wanda) Woods of Hamlet, Ind., Michael (Sandy) Woods of Chesterfield, Va. and Brian (Connie) Woods of Norfolk, Va.; one stepdaughter, Debra (Bill) Ferguson of Lakeville; two stepsons, Danny R. (Connie) Casad and Douglas A. (Theresa) Casad both of Lakeville; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred, Mary, Sylvia and Judy; and two brothers, Thomas and Roger. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma and Shirley; and one brother, James.
Mr. Woods loved Western movies especially John Wayne movies. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and birds and he loved bowling. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville. Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor of Northway Church of Christ, South Bend will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to services today in the funeral home.
