Walter Junior Taberski, 88, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2019 at his home. He was born on December 5, 1930 to Walter and Frances Taberski in South Bend. On December 27, 1952 he married Janice Schechter. Faithfully working for 43 years, he then retired from the University of Notre Dame. Walter is survived by his son, Bruce (Anita) Taberski; daughter, Sue Ingle; grandchildren, Judith (Larry) Burger, Nathan (Kimberly) Knapp, Brian ( Jessi) Taberski, Bryce Taberski, Joshua (Erica) Knapp; great- grandchildren, Austin (Makena) Knapp, Dalton Knapp, Carson Knapp, Ellie Knapp, Mason Taberski, Parker Taberski, Olivia Taberski, Peyton Burger, Aubrey Burger; great-great- grandson, Kenzo Knapp; and sister, Patricia Romanski.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Frances; wife, Janice; and sister Dolores Pruett. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held by the family at Northwest United Methodist Church, 21855 Brick Road, South Bend, IN 46628, on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The church will be hosting a luncheon following the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
