2m: Mary Baschab on July 2, 1855, in Ft. Wayne, Allen Co., IN; Known children: Henry, Daniel, Peter, August, Marie F. and Edward. Stephen purchased a coffin for a son on Aug. 1, 1869. It is unclear which son this references.

Obituary #1:
Stephen Allgeier Dies As A Result of Railroad Accident

Mr. Stephen Allgeier died May 27, 1879 as a result of a railroad accident that occured on May 26. Mr. Allgeier was ran over by a train and lost both his legs. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 27 but his injuries and loss of blood were the cause of death. He was 60 years of age. Mr. Allgeier was born on December 26, 1818 in Baden-Wuerttemburg, Germany and came to America with his parents Lorenz and Solome and sister Barbara on the ship Sully departing from Le Havre, France and arriving in New York May of 1843. Mr. Allgeier was 25 years at that time. Mr. Allgeier had a farm in Adams Township for many years and his family continues to live at this location. He married Augusta Houser in Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 18, 1845. Augusta preceded Stephen in death on July 22, 1854. Surviving are their children, Frank and Charles Allgeier, Mrs. Katherine (Simon) Marks, and Mrs. Matilda (Joseph) Neidhart all of this city. Mr. Allgeier is survived by his wife, Mary, who he married July 2, 1855 in Fort Wayne as well as their five children who are now living in this city, Henry George Junior, Daniel, August A., Marie F., and Edward Allgeier all living with their mother; and one sister, the widow of Meinard Seiler, Barbara Seiler of this city. Friends may visit at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Katherine and Simon Marks of 87 Holman Street. Funeral mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial at the Catholic Cemetery.

The funeral of the late Stephen Allgeir(sic) will take place to-morrow morning at 9:30 from the residence of Simon Marks, No. 87 Holman street. Bio:
Stephen Allgeier (deceased) formerly a worthy citizen of Adams Township, was born in Baden, Germany, December 26, 1818, the son of Lorenz and Solome (Brown) Allgeier. He came to America in 1836 and after spending a few years in New York came to Adams Township and located on a tract of woodland in section 16, becoming one of the early settlers of that locality. While in New York state he had learned and followed the cooper's trade and after locating in Adams Township, in addition to the improvement and cultivation of his land, he, for several years, occasionally worked at his trade. He married at the age of twenty-six to Augusta Houser, who died July 22, 1854, leaving four children: Charles, Catharine, Frank J., and Matilda, all of whom are living. July 2, 1855, Mr. Allgeier was married to Mary, daughter of John and Barbara (Ostheimer) Baschab, natives of Germany. They came to America in about 1834 and located in Northampton County, PA, where Mrs. Allgeier was born March 25, 1836. In 1839 they removed to Starke County, Ohio, and thence to Marion Township in 1854. There her father died December 22 of the same year. His wife survived him until October 5, 1876. By his second marriage Mr. Allgeier had six children: Henry, Daniel, Peter (deceased), August and Marie F. and Edward. Mr. Allgeier died May 26, 1879. He was a member of the Roman Catholic church. Mrs. Allgeier still occupies the home place, which is now owned and cultivated by Daniel Allgeier, the second son. (Valley of the Upper Maumee River, pub. 1889 by Brant & Fuller)
