SOUTH BEND - Ervin Koszyk died Friday in his home. Survivors include wife, Lorraine (Gorka); daughter, Karen (Bob) Watson; sons, Ervin J. (Julie) and Mark Koszyk; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Cass; and a sister, Alice (Leonard) Ciesielski. Private services. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Cancer Society . www.sjfh.net

Ervin F. Koszyk
Feb. 12, 1924 - April 20, 2012
SOUTH BEND - Ervin F. Koszyk, 88, passed away at 10:14 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012, in his home. Ervin was born on February 12, 1924, in South Bend, to the late Konstantin and Elizabeth (Rusi) Koszyk. On September 7, 1946, Ervin married Lillian (Kruk), who passed away on October 7, 1960. Ervin was also preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Burt, John and Joseph Koszyk; and by a sister, Mary Major. On November 25, 1961, Ervin married Lorraine (Gorka), who survives along with daughter, Karen (Bob) Watson; sons, Ervin J. (Julie) and Mark Koszyk; five grandchildren, Sorin, Traci, Aaron, Dustin and Nathan; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Cass; a sister, Alice (Leonard) Ciesielski; and many nieces and nephews. Ervin honorably served his country in the United States Navy at Pearl Harbor during World War II. He served on the U.S.S. Indianapolis in the Pacific Theater. Ervin was a Precision Grinder for 27 years at Torrington before retiring in 1983, and was a handyman at Notre Dame for eight years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed golfing, tomato growing, fishing, pigeon racing, dogs, and loved playing video poker till the end. Ervin was a loving family man and will be missed by all who knew him. Private services will be held at ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
