Alice M. Burke, 93, of Mishawaka, IN., passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Mishawaka, IN.Alice was born on January 18, 1922 in Elkhart, IN., to the late Vincent and Hattie Jarvis. As the former Alice Jarvis, she married Edward W. Burke in Mishawaka, IN. Alice is preceded in by her husband Edward, who passed away in 1997, 2 brothers, Raymond and Al Jarvis, sister in law Betty Jarvis, 2 son in laws, Gerald Friedrich and Dick Mantei. Alice is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Gerald) Friedrich of Terre Haute, IN., son Edward F. Burke of Woodland, CA. Alice was a grandmother to 3 grandchildren, David (Janet) Friedrich, J .D. (Corina) Friedrich, both from Terre Haute, IN., Debra Johannson of Phoenix, AZ., 2 great grandchildren, Ryan Friedrich, Erin Friedrich, of Terre Haute, IN., 2 step great grandchildren, Austin Robbins, of Northfork, VA., Zac Robbins of Chicago, IL. Alice is also survived by 2 sisters, her twin sister, Bernadine Mantei of Edwardsburg, MI., and Bernadette (Joel) Alwine of Ft. Wayne, IN. Alice retired from Ball Band as a Purchasing Agent after many years of service. Alice then went to work at G.T.E. retiring as a Phone Operator. Alice was a volunteer at the St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend. Alice was parishioner at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, in South Bend, when she was able to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, with 1 hour visitation prior, on Monday, August 10th, with Father David Ruppert officiating at St. Anthony De Padua Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd. South Bend, IN. Entombment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. The family requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the church, or to the charity of your choice. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
