SOUTH BEND - Dorothy M. Vertesich, 101, passed away at 12:20pm Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. She was born on January 25, 1913 in South Bend to John and Lottie (Mazurkiewicz) Torzewski. On November 16, 1935 she married Paul Vertesich. He died on October 19, 1971. Dorothy was also preceded in death by four sisters, Genevieve Torzewski, Florence Kolber, Betty Szabo and Mary Fitzmaurice and four brothers, Joseph, John, Edward and Eugene Torzewski. Surviving are a daughter, Darlene (Glenn) Sebastian of Mobile, AL, a son, Patrick Vertesich of South Bend, four grandchildren, Leanne (Paul) Oberkirch, Amanda (Rick) Johnson, Megan (Jason) Sparks and Emily (Matt) Lomax, 9 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, John Riley, Anna Grace, Brady, Ben, Ryan, Brooks, and Olivia, and a brother, Richard "Bud" (Delores) Torzewski of Ocala, FL. Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church and a former member of the Golden Cluster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm Monday, January 5, 2015 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
